It is unknown where I contracted the bite. I have been incredibly sick and I'm looking for others that are going through lyme disease as well.Charity McGillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00386497931933917300noreply@blogger.comBlogger2125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3581979236821533897.post-81940670278519156732011-11-01T11:21:00.000-07:002011-11-01T11:21:46.545-07:002011-11-01T11:21:46.545-07:002008-2009 Update<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I haven't wrote in here in quite awhile but I'm going to try and give an update on what's been happening since 2007.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">First off I've had another child on April 18, 2008, in Saskatoon, Sk. Canada. His name is Ethan. He was born one month premature because I was too sick to carry him anymore and I felt like if anything happened to me I'd <i style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">at least want my baby to <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">survive. We both came out of the c-section procedure very well. I finally convinced my gynecologist to try some antibiotics. <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">She saw how sick I was and we made a very good case as to me having Lyme Disease. <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">When we got back home and saw my regular g.p. both of my sons as well as myself got tested for Lyme Disease and the boys came back positive, I had a few bands that showed activity but not a confirmed diagnosis. Our g.p. started the boys on medication for about 4 months and they are doing very well to this day. I was also started on some meds and IV Rocephin.<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> I was so <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">very sick, having symptoms from seizures, inability to walk or use arms, double vision, extreme pain, incoherent, speech problems which led to a complete inability to speak <i style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">and the list goes on.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Within about 2 months of being on the IV Rocephin, I went from being hospitalized to up and walking around. I was able to come back home to Portland, Oregon and take care of my kids, which was incredibly amazing from the way I was just a couple months ago.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Something I didn't realize was that I would be battling this for years to come. The next few years I have been on and off of IV Rocephin when I'm ill and it brings me back to life. I am still extremely fatigued and can't overdo anything but that is better than being bedridden. After medications I am back up walking, even dancing, I can take my kids out for a walk, cook dinner, clean the house and even drive! Then things turn for the worst when you are least expecting it and I'm back to being bedridden. Life is hard, very hard. The good thing out of all of this is that my kids are healthy. It's a horrible feeling knowing that you made your kids sick.

Charity McGillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00386497931933917300noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3581979236821533897.post-22976015005756304852007-12-14T15:34:00.001-08:002007-12-14T15:42:48.799-08:002007-12-14T15:42:48.799-08:00Start of SymptomsMy symptoms started in August of 2005. I work as an architectural draftsperson, and my job was 1 hour from where I lived. I had been going to the gym about 3 times a week, eating properly etc. I did not have any symptoms related to this problem prior to this. My symptoms started out in my feet, both feet started to go numb, and kind of a dead feeling. I would walk slightly funny because my feet wouldn't walk the way they are susposed to. This went on for approximately 1.5 weeks, and I just thought it was from sitting at my job so much, then sitting while driving to work and back. After the 1.5 weeks, I was at the gym, and had explained to my trainer that my feet were going numb and thought maybe it was from the aerobics that I was doing, so she went through the steps and everything seemed to be fine. That night, I did not do aerobics, but did some weights, and by the time I left the gym I could barely drive home because the numbness had developed all the way up to my hips. So at this point I could not walk properly, almost not at all. I went in to the doctor and he completed some blood tests, and I was set up for an mri. The blood tests and the mri came back negative for anything. The doctor thought it was ms, but nothing could be seen. I was told that maybe it was from a cold or the flu, but I had not been sick in quite awhile. At this point, my job was on hold because I could not get around my house by myself, go to the bathroom or even shower myself. These symptoms continued for the next month.

Charity McGillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00386497931933917300noreply@blogger.com0
